Professional Bio

Lisa Mayo, RDH, BSDH, MHA graduated magna cum laude from the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene at Baylor College of Dentistry in 2002. She then graduated magna cum laude from Ohio University with a Master's of Healthcare Administration in 2016. Lisa is the Dental Hygiene & Dental Assisting Program Director for South College.  She is active in the tripartite of the American/Texas/Dallas Dental Hygiene Association and has held multiple leadership and board positions. 

Lisa has contributed to textbook chapters and published hundreds of articles, white papers, and peer-review continuing education courses on a broad range of topics for Access, Canadian Dental Journal, Dental Economics, Dental Learning,  Dimensions of Dental Hygiene, Medicom, Penn Well, ProfessorRDH, RDH, and StudentRDH.  She authored her first full-length textbook in 2023 with Jones & Bartlett entitled Power Instrumentation for the Dental Professional that can be purchased through Amazon , Barnes & Noble, or Jones & Bartlett.

Lisa has been teaching continuing education courses to national and international audiences since 2006. She has partnered with companies as a KOL (key Opinion Leader): Colgate, Dental Learning, Enbio, Henry Schein, Health First, Perio Protect, BioGaia, Forward Science, RAM Pharmaceuticals, Vvardis, Solmetex, W&H, LM Dental, and Woodpecker. She speaks on air polishing, caries, dental practice management, digital scanning, implants, infection prevention, dental lasers, oral cancer and screenings, periodontology, pharmacology, radiology, special needs, technology, sterilization, and ultrasonics. 

Lisa started her own dental education company Diamond Dental Education. The company was established in 2012 and provides continuing education courses to dental professionals in the great State of Texas!

Lisa says, I love the saying Pay It Forward. I took on this credo and applied it to my life and career many years ago.
