The global dental laser market has grown tremendously over the last 20 years as has the clinical integration. Dental lasers have a place amongst every specialty of dentistry through their analgesic, therapeutic, and regenerative capabilities. This course is designed as an overview of dental laser use in dentistry and will assist the oral health care provider in purchase decisions and clinical integration. Laser physics, wavelengths, mechanism of action, tissue effects, and safety protocols will be presented along with a review of current evidence-based literature.
Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the oral health care provider will be able to:
Define the basic science and physics principles of dental lasers.
Identify the hard and soft tissue effects a dental laser has in the mouth at varying wavelengths.
Identify the oral clinical applications of lasers.
To select a laser wavelength appropriate for your practice needs.
Understand laser safety protocols.
